Technology

Recently many pizza places have started allowing customers to place their orders over the internet. If you thought that was cool, Papa Johns has started another way for customers to place orders, through text messaging! They have recently made this option available with 2700 of their restaurants. They got the idea after allowing the online orders in 2001, which now accounts for twenty percent of their profits. The way that their system works is that you sign up online and put your address and 4 of your favorite orders. Then when you are ready to order your pizza, you would just text FAV1, FAV2, FAV3, or FAV4. Papa John's will then send a reply with your order and you can confirm or deny it. This seems like a pretty cool idea. Think about it, if you're sitting in a meeting and can't call to order your pizza, you could text your order and have it there for you when you need it.

At least 63 people died as a result of the coal mine blast in Ukraine on Sunday, November 18. This explosion was caused by a methane blast. In addition to the 63 people that died, 37 people are also missing, they are trapped inside the mine. 367 miners have been rescued so far, 27 of them having to be hospitalized. This was a very tragic event, the worst accident that Ukraine has seen in seven years. Authorities are doing anything that they can to save the miners that remain trapped inside. This event emphasized the lack of attention they put on safety. This country has some of the most dangerous mines in the world, because they are so deep. Hopefully this event with cause authorities to put more emphasis on saftey issues, and increase the saftey of these miners.

Business
McDonald's Corp Executives have come up with a new idea, they want their stores to expand in the area of coffee. They want to compete with coffee shops, such as Starbucks. They want their stores to offer lattes, mochas, cappuccinos and espressos. The prices are estimated to be about 50 cents less than Starbucks. The executives aren't 100 percent sure how well the new products would do, and if it would be worth the investment or not. They estimate that it would cost about $100,000 for rennovations and new equiptment. Some people think this investment would be a flop, others have been impressed by McDonalds latest premium coffee and iced coffee's and are looking forward to trying these new products. This would come at a bad time for Starbucks, as the company is struggling with the increasing prices of dairy and growing competition. It will be interesting to see if McDonalds goes through with this, and how the new products turn out.

Vinatieri scored the 24 yard fieldgoald that the Colts needed to win with 4 seconds left in the game. Two weeks ago Vinatieri missed his first fieldgoal ever in the RCA Dome againd the Patriots. Last week he missed a 29 yard field goal, which could have caused the Colts to beat San Diego. Tonight he missed a 49 yard field goal, making it his fourth missed field goal in a row. This was his longest streak since 1999 when he missed 3 in a row. Tony Dungy says he isn't worried about Vinatieri, and would be surprised if he missed another one this year.
